Rumana’s story

When Rumana joined MTC Australia’s SEE Pathways to Job Readiness course, held in partnership with Muslim Women Australia, her main goal was to gain new skills. She didn’t have a resume, she didn’t know how to apply for jobs, and she didn’t know how to search for opportunities on the internet.

“When I see the MTC logo, I smile because I have very good memories with MTC.”

In her first week of attending class with MTC Australia’s Skills for Education and Employment (SEE) Pathways to Job Readiness course, held in partnership with Muslim Women Australia, Rumana was surprised by how much relevant information and how many skills she learned. Not only was she improving her job skills, but she was having fun too.

“I was waking up every day early just to catchup and not to miss a class,” Rumana said.

Rumana’s Trainer Ajin helped her create a resume and practice for interviews, and the more Rumana learned, the more optimistic she became about her future.

“It was like, I’m reborn again that I got all the information, and my eyes are opened now,” Rumana said.

Rumana began considering new options for her future career, and she approached MTC Trainer Ajin to see if she might be able to pursue further study. They discussed what Rumana’s strengths and weaknesses were to discover the best options for her, and Ajin helped Rumana apply for enrolment.

“She was with me every day, asking what’s up just to make sure I’m doing well,” Rumana said.

While Rumana was still attending MTC’s SEE Pathways to Job Readiness course, she successfully enrolled in and started studying two separate courses; an individual support course, and a cooking course.

“I was very busy, but I found myself, and I’m very thankful to MTC that my life has been changed completely for better,” Rumana said.

Rumana is a completely different person now that when she started the course, she feels hope for the future and has a new dream.

“I would like to thank MTC for the help and all the support they have provided. The job skills course has changed my life.

“My big dream is to open a restaurant, and I will invite all MTC staff.”

Congratulations Rumana, we’re so happy we could help you find your path forward.
